How long does sharpening take?
Most knives take just a few minutes each. A typical set of 5–8 knives can be done in 30–45 minutes. We offer while-you-wait service for drop-offs and will complete jobs same-day whenever possible.
Will sharpening wear down my knives?
Professional sharpening done correctly removes a very small, controlled amount of steel — we're talking microns. A quality knife sharpened regularly will outlast a cheap knife that's never sharpened. Think of it like an oil change, not an engine rebuild.
Do you sharpen Japanese knives?
Yes! Japanese knives (including single-bevel knives like Yanagiba and Deba, and double-bevel like Gyuto) are handled with special care. Japanese steel is harder and requires a finer angle — we know the difference. A small premium applies for single-bevel work.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept cash, Venmo, Zelle, and Cash App. Easy payment, no hassle. You'll always know the price upfront before we start — no surprise charges.
How do I know when my knives need sharpening?
The classic test: try slicing a ripe tomato without pressing down. If it squashes instead of slices, your knife needs sharpening. For most home cooks, every 3–6 months is ideal. For daily professional use, monthly service makes a real difference in your work and safety.

Our mobile service covers Honolulu and surrounding areas. Contact us with your location and we'll work out a convenient time. Drop-off service is available for those preferring to bring knives to us.
